My private messages with loved ones are none of anybody's business. The financial information I share with private partners is none of anybody's business. Breaking privacy, "chat control", whatever you want to call it, is an obscene invasion of privacy and personal safety. It takes nothing for a corrupt party to perverse things and acquire private information for personal or financial gain. Never mind the enormous risk of authoritarian governments abusing "legitimate" requests to persecute individuals over their political views, their identity, or whatever other reason. The EU was meant to protect its people, their safety and privacy. This isn't that.
